Introduction

Physics is a program taught at Davidson College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Physics at Davidson College supports students who want to major in physics and take allied subjects through a full range of physics courses and faculty-led research projects. The department also offers minors in astrophysics and applied physics. An applied physics minor focuses on basic physical principles and how they are applied, with an introduction to experimental and computational approaches to real-world problem-solving. An astrophysics minor focuses on analyzing the properties and interactions of cosmological objects.

Students can pursue honors in physics by completing the requirements for a major in physics and submitting a written thesis based on an independent research project.

The project may be based on work completed in Physics 495, 496, or on an undergraduate research program on or away from campus that is approved by the department. Physics majors can also study abroad for a semester, with flexibility in study plans.

Davidson supports cooperative dual degree engineering programs through partnerships with Columbia University in New York and Washington University in St. Louis.
