School Counseling, M.A./School Counseling Credential
Introduction
School Counseling, M.A./School Counseling Credential is a Masters program taught at Fresno Pacific University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Master of Arts in School Counseling with the Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential authorizes you to work as a credentialed school counselor in a public-school setting. The program combines coursework and a clinical practice requirement, with a minimum of 800 hours of real-world fieldwork in pre-K to 12 schools.
Students complete 50 units of coursework, including Foundations of the School Counseling Profession, Social Emotional Development, Mental Health Counseling, and Clinical Practice in School Counseling I, II, and III. A sequence of courses and an educational plan is determined by the program director. Classes use synchronous online instruction, and fieldwork placements range from Bakersfield to Merced, with select placement opportunities along California’s Central Coast.
To be recommended for the PPS in School Counseling, you must meet additional program requirements: complete a master’s degree in School Counseling or a related area, and successfully complete the exit exam interview and portfolio review process. Once practicum hours, clinical practice hours, the program exit exam, and master’s degree requirements are completed, you may apply for the PPS credential in School Counseling.
