Introduction

Automation Robotics Engineering Technology is a Bachelor program taught at Hennepin Technical College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Automation Robotics Engineering Technology at Hennepin Technical College prepares students for work in automated systems for the manufacturing industry, including roles as a mechatronics maintenance technician. Students learn how automation technicians design, build, install, and troubleshoot systems used in packaging, supply chains, and other manufacturing processes. Training covers mechanical, electrical, motor controls, and pneumatic systems, with industrial robots used to automate tasks.

The program provides hands-on experience with devices such as PLCs and robots. Students work with robotics, PLCs, sensors, and Industry 4.0 technologies while learning to install, maintain, and troubleshoot automated systems. Apprenticeships and industry partnerships provide real-world work experience while students complete their studies, and graduates and apprentices assist engineers in refining new and existing designs.

Students who earn an Associate of Applied Science degree can transfer credits toward a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing and engineering technology. The program also prepares students for automation careers in manufacturing, packaging, and supply chains. Workforce services for eligible adults are available through this program authorized by Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
