Beef Production

Beef Production at Hinds Community College is an Associate of Applied Science with optional Career Certificate and Technical Certificate pathways. Students study technical and general education courses, including Technical English or English Composition I, Public Speaking I or Interpersonal Communication, and electives in social/behavioral science, humanities/fine arts, and mathematics/science. The agriculture-focused work covers animal production, plant production with lab, and applied soils.

The agriculture curriculum includes Applied Principles of Animal Production or Animal Science, Applied Principles of Plant Production or Plant Science (w/lab) or Botany I (w/lab), Applied Soils – Conservation and Use or Basic Soils (w/lab), plus Principles of Agricultural Management, Principles of Agricultural Marketing, and Agricultural Records. Additional certificate-level coursework includes Animal Reproduction, Forage & Pasture Crops, and Applied Animal Nutrition. Total program hours are listed as 60–63 for the combined sample curriculum.
