Allied Health: Medical Laboratory Technician
Introduction
Allied Health: Medical Laboratory Technician is a program taught at Lake Region State College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Medical Laboratory Technician program at Lake Region State College provides applied lab training and classroom learning focused on real clinical procedures used in healthcare settings. Students develop technical skills for entry-level practice and connect theoretical knowledge to laboratory procedures that support accurate testing and patient care.
The curriculum includes topics such as introduction to medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory operations, clinical immunology, clinical hematology and hemostasis, molecular diagnostics, clinical microbiology, clinical chemistry, clinical urinalysis and body fluids, clinical immunohematology, and professional issues in medical laboratory sciences.
Learning takes place in a dedicated non-biohazard teaching laboratory for foundational skills such as microscopy and pipetting, plus essential laboratory operations. For biohazardous and clinical-specific learning, students practice in laboratory spaces at clinical affiliate sites. Simulation-based learning is also used to introduce clinical procedures in a safe, controlled environment before students practice in real-world settings.
