Introduction

Emergency Medical Technician is a program taught at Merced College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Emergency Medical Technician certificate program at Merced College is designed to prepare students for employment as an Emergency Medical Technician working for various EMS agencies, such as ambulance services, fire and hospital emergency departments. Students who complete the program in a satisfactory manner qualify to take the required examination to apply for an Emergency Medical Technician I certificate.

Course completion includes EMER-50A and EMER-50B. Instruction is delivered through a hybrid and on-campus mode of study. Completing both required courses meets requirements for eligibility to take the EMT-1 certifying exam from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

This certificate can lead to potential employment with ambulance providers, fire departments, police departments, hospitals, doctor’s offices, and private companies that require on-site emergency medical responders. Many students continue toward an advanced health care profession.
