The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Midwestern State University is designed for students who want to study chemistry and apply it to problems in medicine, health, food security, crime, and personal care. Students study chemistry as part of the broader scientific disciplines and choose one of the chemistry major options: ACS certified professional chemist, Interdisciplinary with an open minor, Pre-professional with biochemistry and forensics, Pre-pharmacy, or Water Science.

The chemistry program emphasizes personalized instruction in small classes and seminar groups with direct individual attention from faculty who are Ph. D. chemists. Students are encouraged to start work on a research project as early as the second year of study. Undergraduate research includes collaboration with faculty and can involve programs such as Welch Scholar Program, UGROW, and EURECA. Results from undergraduate research projects are presented at regional and national conferences and published in scholarly journals with international distribution.
