Paramedic (A.A.S.)
Introduction
Paramedic (A.A.S.) is a program taught at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Paramedic (A.A.S.) program at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College prepares students after they complete their paramedic training and certification through the Conemaugh School of Emergency Medical Services. The curriculum includes classroom learning and skills for emergency care, including administering medications, operating defibrillators, and performing advanced life-saving procedures. It combines a total of 31 credit hours at Pennsylvania Highlands and an additional 30 credit hours at the Conemaugh School of Emergency Medical Services.
Students attend classes in a combination of in-person and 100% asynchronous online modalities. In-person classes are held on the Richland Campus, with daytime classes that include hands-on learning, face-to-face instruction, and access to on-campus resources. Coursework in the asynchronous online format is completed through the learning management system, Brightspace, with no set class times, as long as assignments meet instructor due dates.
The program is offered in conjunction with Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center and includes extensive clinical training at the medical center. This partnership is described as helping graduates get ready for employment the day they leave Pennsylvania Highlands.
