Environmental & Energy Engineering Technology
Introduction
Environmental & Energy Engineering Technology is a program taught at Sinclair Community College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
Environmental & Energy Engineering Technology covers sustainability in the built environment and energy systems. Students study sustainability concepts using the LEED framework, alternate and renewable energy sources, energy management principles, sustainable architecture, and weatherization and building performance. The program also includes environmental assessment and analysis, solar photovoltaic design and installation, solar thermal systems, and electrical lighting and motors.
Courses combine classroom instruction with lab time, with most classes listing two classroom hours per week and lab hours per week. Learning includes sampling and analysis methods, building equipment operation such as blower door and infrared camera, and energy modeling and simulation approaches. The program also includes a capstone project with team emphasis and an energy management technology internship or an environmental engineering technology internship that uses co-op hours.
