Introduction

Computer Aided Manufacturing is a program taught at Sinclair Community College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Computer Aided Manufacturing at Sinclair Community College prepares students for manufacturing work that uses computer numerical control (CNC) and computer-aided design/manufacturing. Learners study safety, programming, setup, and the operation of milling centers and lathes, along with precision measurement and blueprint reading. The curriculum also covers Computer-Aided Design (CAD), lean manufacturing, mechanical drafting with CAD, and computer-aided programming with MasterCAM.

Courses combine classroom learning with lab practice, often with two classroom hours and two lab hours per week. CNC-focused modules cover machine shop fundamentals, tooling and machining, advanced machine operations, CNC programming for mills and lathes, shop floor programming, and computer-assisted programming. The program also includes math for CNC programming, welding and metal joining options, and capstone project work. A Computer Aided Manufacturing Internship is available for work learning experience, with credits earned based on co-op hours.
