Bachelor's in Computer Science

Computer Science is a Bachelor program taught at State University of New York at Binghamton, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

The Computer Science program (BS, Minor) focuses on the design, analysis, implementation, management, and application of large software systems, including systems that combine hardware and software. Students take courses in software design, programming, and hardware design, along with required core areas such as computer systems design, programming languages, data structures and algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems, and formal methods.

Students begin computer science courses in their first semester. In the first year, students with limited programming experience start with Programming Concepts and Applications, while others start with hardware and software systems. During the first two years, students study multiple programming languages and computer systems principles. Every required CS course is taught every semester, and electives cover areas including machine learning, data mining, AI, cybersecurity, embedded systems, IoT, cloud computing, robotics, and game design.

The department welcomes incoming first-year students with or without prior CS experience. Required courses support different paths through the program, and students can minor or even earn a dual degree in arts, business, math, music, languages, the sciences, and more. Students can also study abroad and pursue a semester-long co-op for credit.
