Bachelor's in French
Introduction
French is a Bachelor program taught at State University of New York at Binghamton, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The French major offers two areas of study: French and Francophone Studies and French Language and Linguistics. As students progress, specialization begins through strategic course selections, choosing either French, Francophone studies, or linguistics. Students typically also select a double major in a different discipline to build a degree plan.
French is taught through faculty research areas such as culinary fiction, digital humanities, French language and politics, language and identity, and Sociolinguistics of North American French. Department research opportunities include teaching assistantships, internships as events coordinators, and the possibility of developing and writing a senior thesis under a professor’s guidance.
Majors can also apply for teaching abroad for a year and may complete an accelerated degree program to earn a BA and an MA/MPA/MAT in five years instead of the typical six.
