Bachelor's in Anthropology
Introduction
Anthropology is a Bachelor program taught at State University of New York at Binghamton, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The Anthropology major at State University of New York at Binghamton helps students understand cultural and biological variation in past and present human groups. It covers how cultures and societies are created, how language influences worldview, evidence of the human past in the archaeological record, human biological evolution, and how biology and culture shape health and medical practices. Students also learn and apply research methods and theories used by anthropologists to study peoples and their social worlds.
Students can choose a Bachelor of Arts (BA) for flexibility in course selection or a Bachelor of Science (BS) track that integrates scientific training. Both BA and BS include study across four sub-fields: archaeology, biological anthropology, linguistic anthropology, and sociocultural anthropology.
The program includes field- and lab-based research methods, a Freshman Research Immersion stream in molecular and biomedical anthropology for laboratory-based research, and a six week archaeology field school in upstate New York each summer.
Fieldwork opportunities and study abroad options are also available, and internships can be arranged for anthropology credit.
