Introduction

Family Health Nursing is a program taught at State University of New York at Binghamton, USA. Intake: Fall. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (3–4 years) options.

Family Health Nursing is offered through Decker College as an Advanced Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner, and multiple Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) options in the family health (primary care) specialty. In the family health specialty, DNP students may select a functional role as a nurse practitioner.

The program focuses on leadership for evidence-based practice and includes courses on information technology, patient care, and healthcare policy for healthcare advocacy. DNP students complete a DNP Scholarly Project with planning, implementation, and evaluation components.

Students learn at the Health Sciences Campus. Decker College’s Innovative Simulation and Practice Center provides regularly scheduled clinical activities that use standardized patients to assess and manage common healthcare disorders. The Kresge Center for Nursing Research offers hands-on learning during all phases of the research process under the supervision of nursing scientists. For DNP students, the scholarly project is completed under the guidance of a committee.
