Introduction

Higher Education & Student Affairs is a Masters program taught at State University of New York at Binghamton, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1–2 years) options.

The Master of Science in Higher Education & Student Affairs prepares students to work with students in a higher-education setting, rather than in a traditional teaching capacity. The program focuses on applying learning from the classroom to student services and support across areas such as academic advising, admissions and enrollment management, and student development and involvement.

Classes are in person and promote active learning with opportunities for discussion. Graduate assistantships complement classroom learning by providing real-world experience in higher education. Students also work with faculty on research, and all students complete at least one internship where they apply what they learn in a real-life setting under the guidance of experienced practitioners.

Graduates can pursue careers across the field of student affairs, including roles in residential life, multicultural affairs, financial aid, health services, and services for students with disabilities. With sufficient professional experience, the program may also serve as a foundation for roles such as deans of students or vice presidents for student affairs.
