Introduction

Science Communication is a program taught at Stevens Institute of Technology, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Stevens Institute of Technology’s Bachelor of Arts in Science Communication is housed in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. Students study how science is communicated across media, policy and public life, and they develop writing, speaking and analytical skills to translate complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences. Course topics include critical inquiry, science and tech studies, media culture and theory, and environmental communication.

The curriculum uses a structured four-year study plan with courses across science, technology and society. Students complete a Senior Thesis under a faculty advisor and participate in Innovation Expo presentations by HASS thesis writers. Stevens also describes the program as including a secondary concentration made up of five courses in a scientific, technological, or professional field.

Stevens states that graduates prepare for roles across journalism, public relations, marketing and science policy, including health communication and education. The program also includes internships with organizations such as Prudential Financial, Zeno Group and Pew Research Center.
