Introduction

Mathematics Education is a Bachelor program taught at Victor Valley College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Mathematics Education is an integrated Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education program delivered through the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in cooperation with the School of Education. The program is intended for undergraduate students who decide early in their academic program that they wish to pursue teaching.

Students are admitted to the integrated program on successful completion of Year 1, and their qualifications are reviewed on completion of Year 3, with continuation in the BEd portion contingent on that review.

Students complete the program in five years. The first year includes Introductory Calculus 1, Foundations, English or another language, a course in a second teachable subject, Introduction to programming, Introductory Calculus 2, Linear Algebra, another English or another language course, another teachable subject course, and an elective. The program connects mathematics study with teaching-focused preparation through its BSc/BEd structure.

After graduation, career options include roles in education and beyond. These include adult educator, assessment developer/consultant, corporate trainer, curriculum developer, education administrator, educational assistant, educational consultant, instructional designer, instructional materials developer, and teacher.
