Introduction

Bachelor of Social Work is a Bachelor program taught at Walden University, USA. Intake: October. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (Finish in as few as 48 months) options.

The Bachelor of Social Work at Walden University is an online undergraduate program designed to provide a foundation in the critical elements of social work. Students study topics such as Policy and Advocacy, Social Work Research II, Human Behavior in the Social Environment I, and Diversity and Multiculturalism. The curriculum includes general education courses, core courses, elective courses, and a Field Experience course, plus a Social Work Skills Lab.

The program uses a Skills Lab that combines online learning with a live component. The Skills Lab schedule includes three weeks of online learning, followed by three days of face-to-face or virtual live sessions, and then two additional weeks online. Students complete Field Experience with 400 hours in an approved social services agency under the supervision of a licensed social worker, with weekly synchronous, hourlong seminars.

The program is presented for students who want a CSWE-accredited BSW online and includes pathways for first-time college students, students with credits to transfer (up to 135 quarter credits), and students who want to continue into a CSWE-accredited Master of Social Work. BSW graduates with a 3.0 GPA or higher at graduation are eligible for MSW Advanced Standing, which reduces credits required for the MSW and may allow students to skip foundational courses.
