Overview

Aarhus University offers a limited number of scholarships for the most talented applicants from outside Europe. For Danish state scholarships for non-EU students, Aarhus University says the scholarships are financed by the Danish state and that it relies solely on Danish state funding for this purpose. When applicants apply to Aarhus University, the university automatically considers them for Danish State Scholarships.

Aarhus University states that scholarships can only be awarded to applicants who are liable to pay tuition fees. It also states that EU/EEA/Swiss students cannot apply for scholarships at Aarhus University. Scholarship types vary by faculty: Faculty of Arts and Aarhus BSS can include a tuition fee waiver plus a monthly grant towards living expenses, while Faculty of Natural Sciences and Faculty of Technical Sciences offer tuition fee waivers.

Aarhus University states that when applicants apply for admission, their scholarship assessment is automatic alongside the university’s academic assessment of their qualifications. For selection among academically qualified applicants, priority is given to applicants with excellent academic qualifications, and due to limited availability not all highly qualified applicants receive a scholarship. If selected, applicants receive a scholarship offer in the application system together with the letter of admission.

Aarhus University states that the monthly grant, where included, is typically for the duration of the Master’s degree programme, and that the scholarship content varies by faculty. Aarhus University also states that if only a tuition waiver is offered, recipients must have sufficient funds to support themselves financially during their stay in Denmark to meet requirements related to student residence permit. The scholarship is connected very specifically to the Master’s degree programme and cannot be transferred to another degree programme at Aarhus University.
