About this program

The Doctoral Programme in Languages and Translation Studies (Utuling) provides PhD training for language specialists in multilingual and multicultural settings. It focuses on a broader understanding of language, the analysis of languages and interaction in depth, and the development of language expertise with international networking, publishing and mobility as part of scholarly work.

The programme is implemented through independent learning and contact teaching. It leads to a doctoral degree made up of postgraduate studies worth 40 ECTS and a doctoral dissertation. The planned duration is 4 years. Teaching is in Finnish and English.
