DAAD Study Scholarships for Graduates of Economics and Business Administration

ERP Study Scholarships are sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). DAAD says the objective is to provide foreign graduates of Economics and Business Administration with opportunities to complete a Master’s degree course at a state (public) or state-recognised German higher education institution and to gain a Master’s Degree in Germany in the field of Economics and Business Administration.

DAAD says applicants must be excellently-qualified graduates who have completed a first degree (Bachelor, Diplom or comparable academic degree) in Economics and Business Administration by the time they commence their scholarship-supported study programme. Funding can cover a complete Master’s degree programme in Germany. Selection is made by selection committees in the home countries.

DAAD states scholarships are funded for 18–24 months, and are awarded for degree courses with a duration of 3 or 4 semesters. To receive further funding after the first year of study, proof of academic achievements must indicate successful completion within the standard period of study. DAAD also states that if the degree programme includes a stay abroad, funding for that stay is only considered if it does not take place in the home country and lasts a maximum of 25 per cent of the scholarship term.

• You can apply if you are an excellently-qualified graduate.
• You have completed a first degree (Bachelor, Diplom or comparable academic degree) in the field of Economics and Business Administration at the latest by the time you commence your scholarship-supported study programme.
• You must hold at least your first academic degree.
• As a rule, the final examinations of your last academic degree were taken no longer than six years before the time of application.
• You must apply to three host universities for admission to studies simultaneously.
• The DAAD scholarship award letter becomes effective only if the notification of admission has been presented to the DAAD in due time before the beginning of the scholarship.
• Your application cannot be considered if you have been resident in Germany for longer than 15 months at the application deadline.
• Incomplete applications cannot be considered.
• Language skills: the language of instruction for study programmes in Germany is German; in international programmes it is English, or German and English.
• You must provide proof of your level of proficiency in the language of instruction (German, English, or German and English) in your chosen study programme.
• If the language of instruction is German, usually eligible certificates are: TestDaF; DSH; Deutsches Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz (DSD); Goethe-Zertifikat; Österreichisches Sprachdiplom; telc Deutsch; onSET Deutsch.
• If the language of instruction is English, certificates that can be submitted include: Cambridge English; Cambridge Business; IELTS; ISE; TOEFL iBT; TOEFL Essentials; TOEIC; PTE Academic; onSET English.
• When applying for admission to a German university, you will usually also need to submit proof of language proficiency demonstrating your knowledge of the language of instruction; these costs are not reimbursed by DAAD.

• Scholarship payments of 992 euros a month.
• Study allowance of 460 euros a year.
• Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover.
• Travel allowance (upon application only).
• DAAD may fund attendance of a German language course at a language school in Germany for two months before the scholarship-supported studies begin (upon decision of the selection committee).
• Further payments can be paid upon application.
• Family allowances cannot be paid.

1. Register in the DAAD portal.
2. Request a recommendation form. Generate it in the DAAD Portal as a writable PDF under 'Create Letter of Recommendation Form' during the application period, send it to your university teacher for completion, then upload the completed form in the portal under 'Letter of Recommendation'.
3. Apply online in the DAAD portal by completing the online application in full after registering.
4. Upload the required documents to the DAAD portal under 'Attachments'.
5. Submit all required documents by the application deadline; the DAAD portal closes at 24.00 hrs. (CET or CEST) on the last application day.

• Full curriculum vitae in tabular form (max. 3 pages).
• Letter of motivation (statement about academic and personal reasons for the planned study project in Germany), 1–2 pages (uploaded under 'study project/motivation' in the DAAD portal).
• Letter of admission to the study programme at the host university in Germany (if you have not yet received notification of admission at the time of application, it must be submitted before the funding period begins).
• Form 'Information about your preferred master programmes' (completed and uploaded under 'course profile' in the DAAD portal).
• University degree certificate indicating final grade(s) (must be subsequently submitted by the time funding starts if not completed at the time of application).
• Proof of knowledge of language(s) of instruction in the chosen study programme (should be no older than 3 years).
• One recent supporting letter of recommendation from a university teacher that provides information about your qualifications (uploaded as instructed under 'Letter of Recommendation').
• Optional: other documents you think might be of relevance to your application (e.g. certificates of employment, proof of placements).
