Doctoral Researchers Scholarships at University of Bayreuth

Universität Bayreuth states that, due to financial constraints, it is unable to offer any scholarships and consequently will not accept applications. It also says that international students and doctoral researchers have the opportunity to apply to the International Office for a study grant, with limited funding from the State of Bavaria and the DAAD for this purpose.

The opportunity to apply is described for international students and doctoral researchers. Applications for first-semester students cannot be funded; funding applications cannot be submitted until the 2nd semester of study for funding starting in the 3rd semester of study.

For evaluation, Universität Bayreuth states that decisive factors are above all academic achievements from the previous semester (for summer semester: grades from the previous summer semester; for winter semester: grades from the previous winter semester, with at least 20 credit points in total), a letter of recommendation from a university lecturer, and social engagement. For doctoral researchers, the application includes a supervising professor’s recommendation, a description and timeline of doctoral research, and other listed materials.

Universität Bayreuth states that all grants can be awarded for up to two semesters. It also states an obligation to repay funds in the event of an application for naturalization is part of the required signed declaration for applicants.

1. Use the International Office application form and complete it.
2. Submit a complete application: Universität Bayreuth states that only complete applications can be processed; incomplete applications must be rejected immediately.
3. Follow the semester deadline: the application deadline is 31 August for the Winter Semester and 28 February for the Summer Semester.
4. Include the listed documents with the completed application form; Universität Bayreuth states that as a rule, submission of documents at a later date is not possible.
