Gerda Henkel Foundation Germany Research Fellowship

The Gerda Henkel Fellowship for the History of Knowledge and the History of Science is supported by the Gerda Henkel Foundation and offered by the Interdisciplinary Centre for European Enlightenment Studies (IZEA). The IZEA established the fellowship programme to promote research in the history of knowledge and the history of science with a focus on the period of Enlightenment.

The fellowship covers a research visit at the IZEA and includes access to resources connected with the history of knowledge and the history of science. For the year stated on the page, the IZEA offers two fellowships for postdoctoral researchers and one fellowship for doctoral students, all for work at the IZEA in Halle (Saale).

Selection is based on an application sent by email to the IZEA, including the documents listed by the programme. Postdoctoral and doctoral applicants submit different materials: doctoral students also submit a letter of recommendation.

Fellows work for up to three months in their own offices at the IZEA and participate in the Centre’s research programme. They present their research results in a public lecture and also in the IZEA blog Café Lumières: 18th-Century Research in Dialogue, operated in cooperation with the Voltaire Foundation in Oxford (UK).
