Germany Government DAAD ERP Study Scholarships

ERP Study Scholarships are sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) to provide foreign graduates of Economics and Business Administration with opportunities to complete a Master’s degree course at a state (public) or state-recognised German higher education institution and to gain a Master’s Degree in Germany in the field of Economics and Business Administration.

The scholarship supports a complete Master’s degree programme in Germany. Scholarship holders are selected by selection committees in the home countries. If the degree programme includes a stay abroad, funding for this stay abroad is considered only if it does not take place in the home country and if it lasts a maximum of 25 per cent of the scholarship term.

Funding lasts 18 to 24 months for degree courses with a duration of 3 or 4 semesters. To receive further funding after the first year of study, proof of academic achievements must indicate the study programme can be successfully completed within the standard period of study. The DAAD may fund attendance of a German language course at a language school in Germany for two months before the scholarship-supported studies begin, subject to a decision by the selection committee.

• Applicant must be a foreign graduate (as described under the objective: “foreign graduates of Economics and Business Administration”).Must be “excellently-qualified” (as stated under “Who can apply?”.)Must have completed a first degree (Bachelor, Diplom or comparable academic degree) in the field of Economics and Business Administration at the latest by the time the scholarship-supported study programme commences.Must hold at least the first academic degree.Final examinations of the last academic degree should be no longer than six years before the time of application (as a rule).Must apply to three host universities for admission to studies simultaneously.Scholarship award letter from the DAAD becomes effective only if the notification of admission is presented to the DAAD in due time before the beginning of the scholarship.Application cannot be considered if the applicant has been resident in Germany for longer than 15 months at the application deadline.Incomplete applications cannot be considered.Language of instruction for the study programmes is German; in international programmes it is English, or German and English.When applying for the scholarship, the applicant must provide proof of proficiency in the language of instruction (German, English, or German and English) in the chosen study programme.For German instruction, eligible certificates include TestDaF, DSH, Deutsches Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz (DSD), Goethe-Zertifikat, Österreichisches Sprachdiplom, telc Deutsch and onSET Deutsch.For English instruction, eligible certificates can be Cambridge English, Cambridge Business, IELTS, ISE, TOEFL iBT, TOEFL Essentials, TOEIC, PTE Academic and onSET English.Proof of knowledge of language(s) of instruction in the chosen study programme should be no older than 3 years.

• Scholarship payments: 992 euros a month.Study allowance: 460 euros a year.Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover.Travel allowance: upon application only.German language course at a language school in Germany: DAAD may fund attendance for two months before the scholarship-supported studies begin, upon decision of the selection committee.Further payments can be paid upon application.Family allowances cannot be paid.

1. Register on the DAAD portal and complete the online application in full.
2. Upload the required application documents to the DAAD portal under “Attachments”.
3. Ensure the scholarship award letter effectiveness condition is met by presenting the notification of admission to the DAAD in due time before the beginning of the scholarship.
4. Submit the application online via the DAAD portal within the submission window and before the application deadline.

• Full curriculum vitae in tabular form (max. 3 pages).Statement about academic and personal reasons for the planned study project in Germany (letter of motivation; 1 - 2 pages), uploaded under “study project/motivation” in the DAAD portal.Letter of admission to the study programme at the host university in Germany (or submit it before the funding period begins if not yet received at application time).Form “Information about your preferred master programmes”, completed and uploaded under “course profile” in the DAAD portal.University degree certificate indicating final grade(s) (certificate must be subsequently submitted by the time funding starts if not yet completed at application time).Proof of knowledge of language(s) of instruction in the chosen study programme (should be no older than 3 years), uploaded via the DAAD portal even if the university does not require proof of language skills.One recent supporting letter of recommendation from a university teacher.German or English translations of documents submitted in the national language (uploaded with the corresponding documents).School leaving certificate with all individual grades, including explanation of grading system (uploaded under “University entrance qualification”).All university certificates on all annual examinations with individual grade(s), including explanation of grading system.Optional: other documents the applicant thinks might be of relevance (e.g. certificates of employment, proof of placements).
