LMU Munich Class of Language Education PhD Program , Germany (DAAD GSSP Scholarship)

• University degree graded as above average (Staatsexamen, state board examination, Magister Artium, Diploma, Master of Arts, Maîtrise, Laurea, etc.) in one of the following (didactic-oriented) subjects: English, American Studies, German, Romance Languages and Literatures, Classical Philology, Language Education Research
• If the Magister, Master's, Diploma, or thesis required for “Staatsexamen” is part of the degree, it must be graded “good”

• One GSSP PhD scholarship (DAAD) for up to four years for international doctoral candidates

1. Register in the online application portal and follow the instructions.
2. Complete the electronic application form in full and upload all required documents; save your changes.
3. Ensure you have contacted a potential supervisor by email at least four weeks prior to the application deadline; submit a research proposal and clarify the possibility of obtaining a supervision commitment.
4. Ensure that referees are contacted at least four weeks prior to the application deadline so that recommendation letters are submitted by the deadline (the reference letter must be uploaded by the professor themselves).
5. Submit the application online; after the application period ends, the portal will be closed.
6. After the application period ends, check for an email notification about whether the application was successful in the first stage and whether an interview invitation is issued.
7. If shortlisted, attend an academic interview; travel expenses for attending cannot be reimbursed. Participation via online meeting may be possible if you inform the program by email early.
8. If applying for a DAAD GSSP scholarship, ask the referee to use the specified DAAD template for the recommendation letter.

• Motivation essay (1–2 pages) including reasons for applying and the name of the LMU lecturer responsible for supervising the dissertation project
• Exposé of the dissertation project, including a work plan (10–12 pages) (with the reference letter uploaded by the professor themselves)
• Reference letter from a professor assessing your academic potential
• Curriculum Vitae with a detailed and up-to-date account of academic milestones
• Certified copies of all diplomas, certificates, and degrees from schools and universities attended, including the grade of final theses and final overall grades
• A copy of your university (MA) thesis; if written in a rarely used language, include a 2–3 page abstract in German or English
