Erasmus Mundus Joint Programme for International Students

Tempus Public Foundation’s “Study in Hungary” guide describes the Erasmus Mundus programme as a European Union flagship programme aimed at enhancing quality in higher education through scholarships and academic cooperation between Europe and the rest of the world. It provides support for high-quality joint programmes at postgraduate level, delivered through Erasmus Mundus Master Course (EMMC), Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate (EMJD), and Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) as part of Erasmus+.

The guide says Erasmus Mundus joint programmes are Master or Doctorate programmes offered jointly by higher education institutions from at least three Programme Countries. Students study in at least two Programme Countries represented in the consortium, and may study one semester in a Partner Country if participating universities are involved. Internships in enterprises and research institutions are possible.

Selection is described as being for excellent students who have been successfully selected for an Erasmus Mundus joint programme. The programme length is stated as lasting 1–2 years for Master programmes and 3–4 years for Doctorate programmes. The guide also explains that graduates receive a double, multiple, or joint degree (as defined by whether institutions issue separate diplomas or issue a joint single diploma).
