Doctoral Research Scholarships '

Dublin City University School of English offers Four-Year Doctoral Research Scholarships for two full-time PhD students commencing September. The School of English states the scholarships are part of its commitment to postgraduate research and provides a stipend of €25,000 per annum plus a fee waiver for up to four years, subject to satisfactory annual progression.

The scholarships cover two calls within the School of English. Call One (led by Dr Jack Quin) invites proposals in Visual and material culture, Irish literature, Modern poetry and poetics, Intermediality / inter-arts, Modernism, and Queer literature. Call Two (led by Dr Jennifer Mooney and Dr Keith O’Sullivan) seeks proposals that use DCU Library’s collection of Children’s and Young Adult Literature, with a focus on children’s and young adult literature.

Selection is based on applicants submitting proposals for the call they choose and being assessed for scholarship suitability, including the research proposal requirements, CV with referee details, degree certificates, transcripts, and a cover letter. The scholarship is conditional on satisfactory annual progression.

Support is described as a four-year doctoral research scholarship, with a fee waiver “for up to four years” subject to satisfactory annual progression. The stipend is stated as €25,000 per annum, alongside the fee waiver, for the duration permitted under satisfactory progression.

• Applicants should have a relevant undergraduate degree at first-class honours level or at least 2.1 level.It is desirable that applicants hold a relevant master’s qualification.Candidates who are currently completing a master’s qualification are welcome to apply.Candidates must be available to register and begin full-time research before October 2026.
