The University of Reading Malaysia offers the Bachelor of Laws, LLB (Honours), a law degree with a minimum of 12 substantive law subjects, including 6 core subjects. The foundation stage of the programme provides legal knowledge and is determined by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). In the later stage, students choose elective modules based on their interests.
Teaching uses an applied, problem-solving approach with authentic cases for students to examine and discuss. Students develop presentation, argumentation, negotiations, and dispute resolution skills. The programme is delivered full time and uses small class sizes. Students also use a moot court and legal clinic, and they have access to the Learning Resource Centre (LRC).
Graduates can pursue the Bar Practice Course (BPC) recognised by the Bar Standards Board UK, to qualify as a barrister, or the Legal Practice Course (LPC) to qualify as a solicitor through the Solicitors Regulation Authority UK. The degree is recognised by the Legal Profession Qualifying Board (LPQB) Malaysia for the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) examination. The programme also supports flexible options to spend one or even two years at the University of Reading UK campus.
