The Doctor of Philosophy (Computer Science) at UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College prepares students for supervised research in computer science. It includes a minimal number of preparatory coursework classes, with emphasis on a dissertation that addresses a gap in knowledge. Students focus on advanced study across research and development areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Machine Learning/Deep Learning, Data Visualization, Image Processing, and Industry 0.
Students develop and structure their research through a Research Proposal, a proposal defence presentation chaired by UOW Malaysia with an invited panel of examiners, and independent research guided by supervisors. Completion includes a thesis, a viva voce oral presentation chaired by experts in the field. The program also includes two taught core modules: Research Methodology and Algorithm Design & Analysis.
Master’s Degree: Completion in Master’s Degree or equivalent in a related field
Local Student : Band 5 in MUET
International Student : Band 6.0 in IELTS; or a min score of 60 (IBT) or 8.5 (Essentials- Online) in TOEFL; or Cambridge English (169); or PTE Academic (59)
