Letje Lips Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (LLAMS)

The Letje Lips Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (LLAMS) is awarded to a student from a non-privileged background who plans to use a Master’s programme at the Graduate School of Humanities to better themselves and who shows a passion for the development of a just, inclusive and multicultural world. The Graduate School of Humanities at the University of Amsterdam states that four (4) LLAMS scholarships are available for the academic year, with an award of €37,500 each.

LLAMS is aimed at applicants holding a non-EU/EEA nationality who are not eligible for the statutory tuition fees and who are first-time students at a university (of applied sciences) in the Netherlands. The Graduate School of Humanities specifies that students currently enrolled on a pre-Master’s programme at a Dutch university (including UvA), or those who have completed an exchange programme at a Dutch university, are not eligible. Applicants must submit a complete application to the Graduate School of Humanities for a one-year, non-selective English-taught Master’s programme (Research and Dual Master’s are not eligible).

Selection is described as an evaluation by the selection committee. Applicants must submit both the Master’s application and the LLAMS scholarship application by the same deadline. The Graduate School of Humanities states that applicants will be informed of the LLAMS outcome no later than mid-May, and that LLAMS is only awarded to a (conditionally) accepted candidate after the LLAMS deadline.

The scholarship is for a full-time Master’s during the academic year, with the page stating that candidates must be fully enrolled at the UvA as a full-time student by 31 August. The page also states that applicants must hand in certified documents (diploma or gradation statement, final transcripts) by 1 August at the latest if selected and conditionally accepted, and must comply with visa regulations. The page states that the LLAMS does not cover the full amount of stay and study and that students must be able to pay certain fees prior to arrival and fund the rest of their studies and stay.

Submit your complete application for a Master’s programme in SIS (instructions are referenced under “Application”).Submit your SIS application by 15 January 2026, 23:59 CET.After submitting your SIS application, fill out and submit your LLAMS application using the LLAMS application portal link (available from 9 December 2025 until the deadline).Complete both the Master's application and the LLAMS application by the stated deadline.
