Netherlands University of Groningen Eric Bleumink Fellowship

The University of Groningen awards the Eric Bleumink Fellowship for Master (MSc/MA/LL.M.) programmes. The fellowship is provided by the University of Groningen, with stated grant coverage for tuition fee, costs of international travel, subsistence, books, and health insurance.

The fellowship is aimed at candidates holding the nationality of a country appearing in Appendix 1 and who have received provisional or unconditional admission for a master programme. Eligible master programmes are all Master (MSc/MA/LL.M.) programmes, with countries of origin listed across Afghanistan through Zimbabwe and beyond.

Eligible candidates are considered for a grant, but it is not possible to actively apply. The University of Groningen Admission Office, in consultation with the Admission Boards of its faculties, determines which applicants will be nominated for an Eric Bleumink Fellowship scholarship.

The grant is awarded for a 1-year or 2-year Master’s degree programme starting in September only. The grant covers tuition fee, international travel costs, subsistence, books, and health insurance, and the University can issue only a limited number of grants due to the number of applicants.

• Received a provisional or unconditional admission for a master programme before February (only then will applicants be considered).
• Excellent academic performance, preferably confirmed by letters of recommendation.
• Excellent grades during bachelor/undergraduate studies.
• Excellent English language proficiency, in accordance with the admission requirements of the programme of choice.
• Available for the whole period of the programme and able to take part in the entire programme.
• In good health so health insurance in the Netherlands can be arranged.
• Hold the nationality of a country appearing in Appendix 1.
• Have no other means of financing the study in question.
• For consideration, the master application should be completed by the applicant before 1st of December.

1. Do not submit an application for the Eric Bleumink Fellowship: it is not possible to actively apply.
2. Apply for a master programme and obtain a provisional or unconditional admission offer before February so you can be considered for a grant nomination.
3. Complete the master application before 1st of December to allow time for processing by the Admission Office.
4. Wait for nomination: suitable candidates will be informed about a nomination.
5. The University of Groningen Admission Office, in consultation with the Admission Boards of its faculties, determines which applicants will be nominated.
