Massey University PhD Scholarships

Massey University Doctoral Scholarships are awarded to high achieving students to provide financial support for doctoral study. Massey University awards the scholarship with a value of $90,000 plus fees. The scholarship is for a three years' duration and is available as multiple awards. It supports full-time, part-time, and research doctoral study.

The scholarship covers PhD or doctorate research, including Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor of Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych), and Doctor of Social Work (DSW). The award also includes named scholarships for Māori and Pacific doctoral candidates. Eligibility includes being enrolled in the first 12 months of doctoral study or having an admission offer of place for doctoral study at Massey University at the time applications close.

Selection focuses on academic excellence and alignment of the research to University, College, and School research strategies. Massey University states that decisions are made in line with those research strategies and considers academic achievements alongside alignment of the research to strategic priorities of the University, College, and the research supervisor(s).

Recipients are expected to enrol in their doctoral study no later than 1 March of the year following selection. The scholarship is described as a scholarship for a stipend plus fees. Applicants must agree to the scholarship conditions as outlined in the scholarship regulations and submit a Supervisor Support Template completed by their primary supervisor.

1. Check the scholarship status and submit an application by the closing date.
2. If applying while enrolled at Massey University: log in to the student portal, find the Scholarships tab, and apply.
3. If not currently enrolled at Massey University: apply for the qualification you want to study to get access to the student portal, then apply for scholarships.
4. When applying, ask your supervisor to complete the Supervisor Support Template.
5. Upload the completed Supervisor Support Template in the Student Portal when you submit your scholarship application.
