Master of Science Hons Plant Breeding and Genetics

The Master of Science (Hons) in Plant Breeding & Genetics at Hazara University focuses on advanced knowledge and practical skills for crop improvement and genetic analysis. Students learn classical and molecular plant breeding principles and methods, field experimentation, biometrical analysis, and statistical interpretation of breeding data. The program also covers modern breeding tools, including molecular markers, tissue culture, genomics, and biotechnology techniques.

Teaching uses a classroom and lab learning mode. The program runs for 4 semesters with approximately 34 credit hours. Students build research and analytical skills to identify, evaluate, and use genetic variability to develop superior crop varieties, while also developing problem-solving, critical thinking, professional ethics, teamwork, and communication skills.
