The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at the University of Santo Tomas is a program in the systematic study of social life, groups, societies, world systems, and virtual communities. Students study sociological theories or perspectives and research methodologies to understand, analyze, and address social problems and issues. The curriculum includes study of general sociology, sociological theories, social research methods, and sociology-focused applied subjects such as community engagement studies and directed research for thesis writing.
Students complete the program through a course schedule with first term (August to December), second term (January to May), and special term (June to July). The curriculum includes classroom (lecture) courses and units listed with lab hours, including National Service Training Program 1 and 2. Student support includes academic, spiritual, and wellness services, which shifted to online services when the university moved to distance learning.
