Bachelor of Seconday Education Major Ini Mathematics

The Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics is an undergraduate teacher education program. It equips learners with competencies to teach in their chosen specialization at the secondary level. The program focuses on mathematical concepts and procedures, relating mathematics to other curricular areas, and developing pedagogical content knowledge for mathematics.

The program is full-time and campus based. It is structured with general education courses (36 units), professional education courses (42 units), major courses (63 units), mandated courses (PATHFIT & NSTP) (14 units), and an institutional course (12 units), for a total of 167 units. Graduates are expected to demonstrate competence in assessment design for mathematics and problem-solving with routine and non-routine problems.

Applicants seeking admission/readmission to the Education Programs must comply with the following requirements in addition to the university’s general admission requirements (Certificate of Good Moral Character, Birth Certificate /PSA Document, Marriage Contract for married female students, two pieces 2x2 picture).

• Admission Requirements for Incoming First Year Students: Form 138 (High School Report Card) with an average grade of at least Eighty Percent (80%) as indicated in the Form 138; Admission Exam (OASIS); Interview with the Dean/Academic Supervisor/Evaluation Committee.
• Admission Requirements for Transferees: Honorable Dismissal from School Last Attended; Transcript of Records; Certificate of Good Moral Character; Interview with the Dean/ Head/Evaluation Committee.
