The Doctor Ph.D. Degree in Bioinformatics reviews how computational technology, data science, mathematics, and statistics are applied to biological data and molecular biology, especially genetics and genomics. The course covers topics such as analysis of genome sequence data, gene variation and expression, prediction and detection of gene and protein structure and function, prediction and detection of gene regulation networks, and simulation of biological environments.
Study is delivered through flexible distance learning. The program structure is 70% textbooks and 30% thesis. It uses 45 to 72 academic credits above a Master’s program, with an average duration of 24 months. The coursework includes Bioinformatics Online and research methodology plus a final project or thesis, with textbooks included in the fees.
