The Doctor Ph.D. Degree in Data Science analyzes how to build systems and algorithms to extract knowledge, find patterns, generate insights and predictions from diverse data. It combines methods from mathematics, statistics, computer science, and information science to derive knowledge that can support informed decisions. It also explores big data and its analysis when traditional processing software cannot handle the size or complexity of the data.
Study is delivered through distance learning. The program uses a structure of 70% textbooks and 30% thesis. The degree requires 45 to 72 academic credits above a Master’s program, with an average duration of 24 months. The credit composition includes 39 academic credits for Data Science Online and additional credits for research methodology and a final project or thesis. Adults over 27 years of age can apply.
