The Doctor Ph.D. Degree in Persuasive Technology explores an interdisciplinary field focused on the design, development, and evaluation of interactive technologies that use persuasion and social influence techniques to influence people’s behavior. It applies to human-human and human-computer interaction, including sales, diplomacy, politics, religion, military training, public health, and management. The design of persuasive technologies is presented as design with intent, with the goal of encouraging the adoption of healthy habits.
The program is delivered online via distance learning. It uses a structure of 70% textbooks and 30% thesis, with 45 to 72 academic credits above a master’s program. The credit composition includes Persuasive Technology Online, other additional subjects, and 18 academic credits for research methodology and a final project or thesis.
