Doctor PhD Degree Viticulture

This Doctor Ph.D. Degree in viticulture explores the science, production, and study of grapes, including solutions to events that occur in the vineyard. It covers the duties of a viticulturist such as monitoring and controlling pests and diseases, fertilizing, irrigation, monitoring fruit development and characteristics, deciding when to harvest, and vine pruning. The degree also links vineyard management and grape characteristics to the start of winemaking, where viticulture connects to viniculture.

The program is delivered via distance learning for adults and professionals. It includes 45 to 72 academic credits and uses a structure of 70% textbooks and 30% thesis, with additional subject credits and research methodology plus a final project or thesis. Fees include program of study materials such as textbooks, study guide, evaluation and assessment, diploma, and transcript. Academic credits are based on BIU earned credits and a credit conversion statement.

Admission is open for adults over 27 years of age. Entry also requires a master’s degree or international equivalent (5 years of study), and previous knowledge in the field of study is required. The program is supervised by John Stanley Bircham.
