Evaluación de La Tesis Doctoral. Desarrollo Del Acto de La Defensa

This course covers the evaluation of a doctoral thesis and the development of the thesis defense act at the Universidad de Zaragoza. It describes the defense as an opportunity for the doctoral candidate to present and defend the research work before a tribunal. The candidate explains the methodology, results, discussion, and conclusions, with special mention of original contributions based on the existing background.

The defense takes place in a public session in any facility of the Universidad de Zaragoza or in collaborating centers and institutes of the Doctoral School or the doctoral program. It can also take place non-presentially. For theses with protected content, the defense act may be restricted when authorized by the Academic Commission of the program.

The tribunal includes all its members and is formed with a secretary responsible for collecting, safeguarding, and delivering the documentation linked to the defense act. The candidate responds to questions posed by the tribunal and any other doctors present, within the time set by the tribunal chair. The tribunal uses the document of activities (DAD) as a qualitative evaluation tool alongside the thesis assessment.
