Grado en Ingenieria Geologica

The Geology Engineering degree at Universidad de Salamanca prepares students to address engineering and environmental problems arising from the interaction of people with the geological environment. It includes training for work related to geological-geotechnical aspects of public works and also to research, evaluation, management, and protection of natural resources, waste storage, and the assessment and forecasting of geological hazards. The degree consists of 240 ECTS: 60 ECTS of basic training, 156 ECTS of compulsory coursework, 12 ECTS of electives, and 12 ECTS for the Final Degree Project.

The programme includes field practice in various subjects. It is organised around learning competencies and objectives for the degree, with a study plan distributed across basic training, compulsory coursework, electives, and the Final Degree Project. Students also follow recommended subjects before entry, including Earth science and environmental topics, Technical Drawing II, Physics, Mathematics II, and related preparatory background in Geology and basic English for understanding scientific texts.

To enrol in this degree, there are no special conditions or tests besides the general requirements set by the basic national regulations.

The programme is designed to admit students with the capacity for analysis and synthesis to understand the Earth System and to understand and solve engineering-related problems. It recommends having completed technological upper secondary education and having knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, and Technical Drawing, as well as knowledge of Geology. It also recommends user-level familiarity with text-processing and spreadsheet programs, and a basic level of English that allows understanding scientific texts.
