The Licenciatura en Teología Bíblica is the second cycle of theology studies. It emphasizes research over the transmission of new content. It covers the study of Sacred Scripture, including its formation, believing interpretation (hermeneutics), and its role in the life of the Church. Alongside monographic courses on different aspects of Scripture, the program includes the personal preparation of a research dissertation (tesina).
The plan of study runs in two years and totals 120 credits. It is organized around three blocks: biblical languages (Greek and Hebrew) with 18 ECTS; monographic courses in exegesis and biblical theology plus an interdisciplinary seminar with 30 ECTS, with an optional course from the areas of dogmatic or practical theology worth 12 ECTS; and a research plan that ends with the preparation of a tesina worth 60 ECTS.
