The Certificate Programme in Introduction to Artificial Intelligence at Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIT) is a 40-hour online programme that builds a foundation in AI. It covers search algorithms, knowledge representation and reasoning, machine learning and deep learning, natural language processing, and ethical considerations. Learners study topics including state-space search, propositional and first order logic, supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, NLP tasks, and AI bias, fairness, privacy, and explainability.
The programme runs online with a schedule of Sundays from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm. Teaching includes both theory and practical sessions using Python and tools such as Jupyter, NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and other listed tools. The course culminates in a capstone project where learners choose an AI mini-project, then present and complete evaluations.
