Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice in English

The Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice in English at The Open University of Sri Lanka is designed to upskill the English language proficiency of working professionals. It covers professional communication requirements such as presentations, negotiation, small talk, personal branding, reflection, and a range of writing genres.

The programme is a one-year intensive course with more than 250 hours of face-to-face contact and practical sessions. It includes 250 hours of in-class teaching and hands-on language practice, with content focused on the unwritten rules of communicating in professional contexts. Teaching is supported by a panel of English language teaching experts and professionals from HR.

• PGP8501 Professional Communication I – Professional Writing Skills
• PGP8401 Professional Communication II – Skills in Presentation and Technology Mediated Communication
• PGP8302 Professional Communication III – Language of Negotiation
• PGP8601 Key Language Competencies and Advanced Grammar
• PGP8301 Continuous Professional Development (including soft skills and IT skills)
• PGP8303 Writing and Presenting Project Proposals

• A degree from a recognized University or an equivalent professional qualification recognized by the Senate, OUSL;
• Successful performance at the Selection Test.
