The University of Gothenburg’s Master of Fine Arts Programme in Fine Arts (K2FRI) is a master’s programme of 120 credits (ECTS). The curriculum focuses on the challenges of the roles of art and artists in producing publicness, and it develops introductory-level skills in artistic research. Students investigate questions of what they produce, how, when, and for whom, including decisions about ethics, aesthetics, artistic production, and where work is sited, situated, and circulated.
Teaching is delivered through lectures, seminars, workshops, and individual and co-operative projects, balanced with self-directed and peer-to-peer learning. Over four terms, students create increasingly specific and nuanced artistic projects. Assessment includes coursework plus oral and written examinations. The programme culminates in term four with production, contextualization, and public dissemination of the artistic project, including a cooperative project with classmates, faculty, and any external partners.
