Linköping University (LiU) International Scholarship

Linköping University (LiU) offers the LiU International Scholarship to a limited number of new students. LiU states that it is aimed at supporting international master’s degree students with significant academic potential who are required to pay tuition fees, and that the tuition fees for an awarded student are normally reduced by 50%.

LiU International Scholarship eligibility is for students who have applied for a master’s programme at Linköping University and meet conditions set by LiU. LiU describes an application route where the scholarship application is submitted after receiving the First Notification of Selection Results and where the master’s programme is the applicant’s first priority (ranked as number 1 of 4).

LiU states that applicants must meet minimum academic standards to be considered: a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, a first or high second class degree, or an equivalent average. LiU also states that institutional rankings are considered, and that applications that do not meet the minimum academic standards will not be considered.

LiU International Scholarship rules and regulations state that the scholarship offer is only valid for the specific year and master’s programme stated in the Notification of Selection Results. LiU states that for students on a master’s programme, the scholarship/fee normally covers a workload of 30 credits per semester as long as the courses are included in the programme, and that additional courses beyond 30 credits have an additional fee. The scholarship is also subject to annual academic progress: holders must pass at least 75% of their courses during the first academic year to receive the scholarship for the following academic year.

• Applicant must meet the minimum academic standards: GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or a first or high second class degree, or an equivalent average.
• Institutional rankings are considered as part of the evaluation process.
• Applicant must have applied by the deadline for the first admission round.
• Applicant must have submitted all the required documents by the deadline.
• Applicant must have chosen a master’s programme at Linköping University as their first priority (ranked as number 1 of 4).
• Applicant must have been admitted to their first choice in the First Notification of Selection Results.
• Applicant must be required to pay tuition fees.
• Applicant is a citizen of a country outside the EU/EES/Switzerland and is required to pay tuition fees (for the scholarship rules and regulations).

• Tuition fee reduction: normally 50% for a student awarded a LiU International Scholarship.
• The scholarship covers the total tuition fee or part of the tuition fee.
• If the scholarship covers part of the tuition fee, the student must pay the remainder of the fee no later than the payment deadline.
• For students on a master’s programme, the scholarship/fee normally covers a workload of 30 credits per semester as long as the courses are included in the programme.
• For any additional courses beyond 30 credits, there will be an additional fee.

2. Apply by the application deadline for LiU Scholarships (LiU states the application period is only open for a short window).
3. No additional documents are needed to support the scholarship application.
