Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering

The Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering at Mbarara University of Science and Technology combines engineering, medicine, and science. It covers the principles used to design instruments, devices, and software, develop new procedures, and conduct research to solve clinical problems. The program also includes work related to imaging systems such as magnetic resonance, ultrasound, and x-ray machines, plus techniques to automate or control body functions.

Students take a full-time undergraduate program with a stated duration of 4 Years. The academic focus is described as drawing knowledge from several areas of engineering and applying it to problems in medicine, biology, and neuroscience. Direct Entry: Two principal passes in either Physics, Biology or Mathematics, and at least a subsidiary pass in any other A’ Level Subjects.

Diploma Entry: Diploma in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering OR A Diploma in a relevant Medical Technology. OR Other Diplomas approved by the University to be equivalent to any of those stated above.
