Applied Innovation Design MSc at University of Wales, Bangor is designed to help students engage with design at all levels. The course covers understanding design’s role and value in organisations, and applying creativity and innovation tools in roles such as leader, facilitator and practitioner. Students study design thinking processes, strategy, and research methods for design, then apply this through design project work.
The course consists of two semesters of study. It includes design-based projects and academic study, with the option to undertake a research-focused industrial placement. Students complete a final, stand-alone research project, which can follow three paths: commercial delivery, entrepreneurship, or commercial consultancy. The programme also includes core modules and optional modules that may include introductions to software such as Solidworks and Adobe InDesign, plus subjects including Consumer Psychology and Behaviour Change.
