The MA Applied Criminal Justice and Criminology at Swansea University covers criminological theory, criminal justice policy and practice, and rigorous research skills. Core modules include Critical perspectives of the criminal justice system: Challenges, policy and practice, Understanding Criminological Theory, Case Studies in Applied Criminal Justice and Criminology, and Developing Criminological Research and Dissertation Preparation.
Teaching is campus based and delivered through a blend of practice-led and research-led methods. The programme has core content delivered on a single day of the week, supported by ‘lunch and learn’ sessions and seminars. Students complete compulsory study alongside optional modules such as Online Propaganda and Radicalisation and Countering Violent Extremism Online, and then culminate the degree with FHEQ 7 Taught Masters Dissertation.
The applied nature of the programme links material and assessment to the criminal justice system in England and Wales, including elements that form the criminal justice system and practical assessments focused on impacting public policy and practice.
