Chancellor’s International Scholarships - University of Warwick

The University of Warwick Doctoral College runs these postgraduate research scholarship competitions. The awards support study for doctoral research and include full payment of academic fees plus a maintenance stipend, with some schemes adding research grants, leave options, travel support, or help with immigration costs.

The competitions apply to applicants for Postgraduate Research courses at Warwick. Eligible courses include PhD, MPhil/PhD, EngD, and entry to the PhD stage of an MRes+PhD. Unless a scheme says otherwise, applicants may be from any discipline and any nationality or fee status.

Warwick says applicants submit a single scholarship application and are then considered for all Doctoral College funding schemes for which they are eligible. The page gives scheme-specific criteria for each award, including research area, heritage, immigration status, partner university, or China Scholarship Council eligibility. For the China Scholarship Council joint awards, candidates must also meet the stated course and scholarship deadlines and results are sent by email.

Support normally lasts for the period set by each scheme. The Chancellor’s Scholarships and AHRC Doctoral Scholarships include a maintenance stipend for 3.5 years, while the Sanctuary, Pathway, and Monash-Warwick Joint Scholarships also run for 3.5 years. The CSC joint scholarships provide support for up to 4 years, less any time already spent on the PhD before the scholarship starts. Some schemes also include leave options and, for eligible scholars, support with immigration costs.
